Elie Saab has been a constant on the red carpet for the last decade and it seems that lately whenever I check out the awards show fashions and really like a gown, it’s an Elie Saab design. The gowns tend to be feminine, with beautiful draping and often floating fabrics, sequins, beading or some combination thereof.
2010 Collection and Rachel McAdams Oscars. A lot of critics didn’t care for this look but I happened to love it, especially since the print is so unexpected on a red carpet.
2009 Academy Awards Evan Rachel Wood and Angelina Jolie. Incidently, this is probably my favourite red carpet look for Angelina.
2009 Golden Globe Awards Even Rachel Wood
Evan Rachel Wood. I really love this style, I think the silhouette is beautiful and classic. I also love the retro styling of her hair, too.

Beyonce has been wearing Elie Saab on the red carpet for years, probably because the designs highlight her figure so well and, let’s face it, that is an intrinsic element of her style. The added glamour of sequins and beading doesn’t hurt, either.
2008 Grammy Awards Beyonce
2006 AMA Beyonce
Dreamgirls Premiere Beyonce
Marcia Cross at the 2008 Emmy Awards
2002 Academy Awards Halle Berry Best Actress
2011 Costumer Designer Guild Awards – I love this dress
2010 Cannes Film Festival Aishwarya Rai
Mila Kunis Academy Awards 2011
2010 Grammy Awards Rihanna
2009 Mischa Barton. I like the dress but what on earth is going on with her hair and make-up?
Scarlett Johanssen Golden Globes 2011. Not my favourite look for Scarlett. I’m not sure if it’s the hair or that the dress is too pale or what the problem is.
Academy Awards 2010 Anna Kendrick
Olivia Wilde 2009 Golden Globes
2007 Emmy Awards Jennifer Morrison
Fergie 2010 Golden Globe Awards – she looks almost ladylike here…
SAG 2010 Marion Cotillard
2009 Golden Globes Laura Linney
Christina Aguilera – this is a great look for her
2008 Emmy Awards Evangeline Lilly
Taylor Swift 2011 ACM – Taylor hasn’t met a glittery dress that she doesn’t like and Elie Saab has lots of them. She also loves gold and muted colours…
2011 Billboard Music Awards Taylor Swift
Amy Adams 2011
Hilary Swank – I’m not much of a fan of her or her style but I think that the styles of these dresses is flattering on her, makes her look soft and feminine.
Kate Winslet 2011 Emmy Awards
Nina Dobrev 2012 People’s Choice Awards
2012 Golden Globes Jessica Biel
Gwyneth Paltrow – I love the green dress but I’m not sure why she chose to wear the necklace, it kind of detracts from the neckline.
What to expect at the Oscars? More Elie Saab from his 2012 Ready to Wear and Resort Collection, I’m sure – from the looks of the below designs, I am hoping for lots of bright colour. I am betting that we can expect to see more of the yellow that has been so trendy and hopefully, more of the electric green and blue, as well.
